Drimpfite

Drimpfite

I have finally published the beta version of my new theme drimpfite. The name is basically  a combination of the three words dark, grimpf and graphite. I think it looks pretty cool (obviously :-) )! I am especially happy with the menu bar and the comment form. Since I am still fixing some bugs and have to finalize the theme, it is not yet available to be downloaded. Nevertheless, you can already get some impressions with the Demo.

MacBook Mini? I don’t think so.

I could name any Apple rumor site – they are all intensively discussing the introduction of an Apple NetBook version. Here is my opinion on this topic:

BidVertiser, the best alternative

June 22nd, 2009

BidVertiser.com

Everyone who has a blog knows how financially helpful it is to place some advertising on your site. Since I pay for the rented domain and a server, it is nice to get something back, so that my blogs are at least self-financing. To do the advertising, most bloggers use Goole AdSense, which is not bad at all and offers a lot of support, since it has a huge community. For me the problem was that my Google AdSense account is locked. This is a long story in itself, which I might tell at another point in time, nevertheless I did certainly not violate their rules, or terms of use. I would have loved to use AdSense, but once you are on Google’s “black list”, it is just impossible to get off it. They do offer this “explain the problem” service, but it is an about 20 pages long form, and even if you are able to fill out all fields, it doesn’t really offer an opportunity to write some personal lines.

Picture 1

Yesterday I wanted to register to Bloggerforum.com. Since I am blogging now, I am generally searching for some place to discuss, get input, and maybe increase visitors. Bloggerforum had an especially good reputation, so I decided that this is the place to register to. However, arriving on their site, there is this warning sign saying “Posting Suspended”. You need to reed it, it’s just fabulous!

A shift in search technology

June 16th, 2009

Wolframalpha.com

The Silicon Valley company Wolfram Research, which is famous for its science software Mathematica launched the first version of its own internet search engine. Under Wolramalpha.com you can reach the revolutionary machine, which works with input in natural english language. The basic idea behind the engine is that, unlike the Google search its doesn’t simply provide you tons of links to random websites which might hold the information you are looking for. What it does is it evaluates the information on these websites itself and directly answers the question you types in natural language.

Happy Birthday QC3!

Quiet Comfort 3

Happy Birthday Quiet Comfort 3! After exactly 3 years of shipment they are still unmatched in the headphone market. Nevertheless I am looking forward to a pair of Quiet Comfort 4 headphones. Bose just rules!

Old fashioned, but still the best

June 5th, 2009

Quiet Comfort 3

Although 3 years old in 10 days, the Bose QuietComfort 3 are still the best headphones on the market by far. I have mine for one year now, I and just have to say that no other pair of headphones I have tested can match them in sound, noise cancelation, or design. Headphones in their, as well as in even higher priceclasses, like the Sony MDR-NC500D Digital Noise Canceling Headphones (which cost US$400) are just not the same. Good job, Bose! You made it (again)!

Free, legal and working beautifully

SnowTape

There have been many many attempts by a range of several software developers, to push trough the “downloading music via internet radio”-idea. The problem with all of these was, that the software they provided to do that was totally underdeveloped and horribly hard to use , if they provided a software at all.

SnowTape finally got it right! I have tested the demo version for some days now, and I am really impressed.
